Building real-time community to drive change through art

Gun violence is surging in America and black young men are 3x more likely to be shot by trained shooters than their white peers. An academic study featured by NPR, and published by Yara Mekawi and Konrad Bresin from the University of Illinois found a disturbing correlation: The most popular target for shooters to learn how to use their firearm is a black silhouette. This art project seeks to eliminate the usage of the black silhouette as a target for shooters so they won’t subconsciously see black males as a target anymore.
